When Life Gives You Choices…..

From the moment life begins, we stand before a multitude of choices. These decisions, ranging from daily routines to significant milestones, all to shape our individual paths. As we grow and learn, we come to understand the profound importance each choice holds. Whether it’s deciding to call that ex back or move on words left unsaid. Every decision influences our journey and helps define who we are.

With each passing day, the significance of our choices becomes more evident. The career path we pursue in life, hobbies, and interests. To skills we posses, what to do with them and where do they hold a place in our lives? All these elements contribute to the unique journey we embark upon. The weight of these decisions can at times feel overwhelming, as they have the power to either propel us forward or set us back.

 Our choices in friends, partners, beliefs, wellness, where to live, talents to pursue, and the overall lifestyle choices play a major part in shaping our journey. More and more each day we realize how much weight each choice holds.

There is a lot of pressure to make the right choices, as it can either set you back or align you with your best outcome. It’s enough to make one’s head spin. It’s no wonder so many of us are stressed out, confused or ready to just stay in place.

Stress and survivor mode can alter a decision quicker than you may believe. Choices at times are accompanied by a sense of feeling. You know that feeling of personal desire vs logical or ethical reasoning. Or how about the sensation you feel when something just isn’t right? You can’t quite explain why it’s not right , as it is a knowing inside of you that suggest a different route.

Feelings play a huge part in assisting a decision don’t you think? How many times have you heard someone say I changed my mind because I just wasn’t “feeling it”? Or “something about this situation just doesn’t feel right to me”?  Feelings become the driver when acknowledged. Especially during critical moments— such as making a huge decision.

For example, imagine being invited to celebrate with friends after a long day’s work. You feel exhausted and have a huge project due the next day. You feel torn because you want to go but you know this project requires your time and full attention. Then you begin to say to self that you deserve a break, so the invitation feels like the perfect opportunity. You choose to go out, enjoy yourself, and even meet new people. The next day, you wake up late and exhausted.

But you feel it was worth it, even if your work performance suffers a bit. In that moment, you sacrificed future success for immediate gratification. Life is full of such offers—some are worth considering, while others may set you back. Finding the right balance between your wants, needs and goals is challenging, especially when self-care, relationships, responsibilities and life’s lessons are involved.

 Some may invest  deep thought and time before making a decision. Weighing their options for the best outcome. While others go with their gut, if it feels right it must be right. These individuals trust their intuition and the process, experiencing a sense of certainty with each step. They believe in what no one else can see, it’s a feeling of knowing and that is good enough for them.

There can be other hiccups in decision-making such as, resistance. Whether familiar or unfamiliar, in order to overcome resistance requires focus, determination and patience with self. It demands you to listen to your intuition above all else, to align your actions with your goals, rather than fleeting emotions. Our determination is persistent, wanting to flourish, yet resistance attempts to prevent this process. Ever present at the first sign of change or new beginnings, resistance prefers that everything remains the same, which is misleading as all living things are created for change.

A life hack for decision making:

I have some practical advice that will help you in your decision-making.

  1. Take your time. The best decisions are made with a calm and clear head. It is when we move out urgency that reroute on our path occurs.
  2. Do not over think a decision to death. Spending every waking moment on a decision will not increase the outcome that you desire. Time to call in reinforcement’s, what does your intuition have to say about it?
  3. Trust your intuition. Now is the time to get familiar with your body’s signals. Your gut, nerves system, senses will let you know when something is for you or against you, it is your responsibility to learn it, acknowledge the feeling and trust it without requesting proof. Learn to trust yourself.
  4. Prioritize. What will come of your decision made. Rate your options 1, being most important. 10 being the least important. Advice: try not to take the easy way out, what may appear easy isn’t always for our best interest. Easy can be misleading.
  5. Breathe. Don’t forget to breathe. Simple breathing techniques can help prevent feelings of stress when making a decision. With every exhale breathe out any stress or tension that you may feel in your body.

Overall, try not to stress yourself, you are a human being and we are forever learning. As life evolves so do we, as we are in unison with life. So, give yourself some grace, and be open to learning something new and you will do well. You got this love!💕

Affirmations:

I am doing the absolute best I can and that is all that is required of me. I trust myself as I only want the very best for me.  I trust the process, my decisions come to me easily, effectively and best without pressure.

(Breathe in peace, and exhale any stress. Breathe in peace again, hold your peace as it fills your body, exhale stress, fear, and doubt, last time breathe in peace hold your peace allowing it time to fill your body 4 seconds… exhale stress, doubt, and fear.)
