The Battle Between Your Old Way Of Being Vs Your New Choice In Living!

February 18, 2026 Posted by uniqueonlove Awareness, Healing Old Wounds

Introduction

The journey toward growth often involves an internal struggle—an ongoing battle between who we once were and who we aspire to become. This conflict is not always obvious at first. There was a time when I never would have considered myself the saboteur of my own life. After all, I love myself and want only the best for me. In retrospect, I see that what looks like caution can often be driven by fear and a desire for familiarity.

Where in your life do you feel the desire to move forward with change yet there is something inside of you that is holding you back?

Self-Love Versus Comfort and Fear

I have come to realize that in the past my motivations were more complicated than I understood. While I believed my intentions at the time stemmed from self-love, a closer look revealed otherwise. My choices were often rooted in fear, instead of what was truly best for me. This realization helped me to investigate my intentions a little deeper( what is my why?) on how to approach personal growth.

Dialogue Between the Old way of Thinking vs the New Self

The old way of thinking can be content with the status quo to say the least— as this is safe, limited, and basic. In contrast, the new way recognizes that progress demands hard work and commitment. The old way of thinking argues that change will take too long and insists we should focus on the present, prioritize maintaining life as it is. Meanwhile, the new self is preparing for a brighter future. With understanding the alignment of mind, body, spirit along with a committed routine are essential.

Imagine all five aspects of yourself—the old, the new, mind, body, and spirit—gathered at a board meeting about you and your future. The new self proposes starting a routine to initiate change. The body and spirit agree immediately, but something within the mind becomes hesitant. When questioned, the mind admits feeling stuck and indecisive. The old self, sensing a threat, has now taken over. stating that things are fine the way they are and warns against change.

A conversation unfolds within: the mind addresses both the old and new way of thinking, confronting the reality that long-held plans have been delayed out of fear and hesitation. The old self maintains it is acting out of care and protection, but the new self argues that settling for the familiar prevents growth and fulfillment. The new self assures the old self that feeling unstable is part of the process, and that with practice comes improvement. Resistance is normal, but change is necessary.

The old self expresses concerns about past failures, like the notary business that did not succeed. The new self acknowledges this but points out that the venture was not aligned with true passion or purpose. The lesson learned was to recognize worth, value, and calling—and to prioritize those above all else. Now, the time for action has arrived. The group agrees to support a new routine to prepare for greater things ahead.

Finally, the old self accepts a new role—serving as “head of security” for memories, ensuring that lessons from the past are not forgotten as growth continues. The team unites, committing to a stable routine and embracing transformation together.

Embracing Change and Leading From Within

It is easy to slip back into old, familiar patterns after working so hard to break free of them. One part of you desires better, while another fears change. The reality is both are part of who you are, but only one is holding you back. which means it is up to you to decide rather to reassure the old way of thinking, or choose to let go and leave it behind you.

Throughout your journey, you may experience many internal changes, some parts of you will remain, supporting your growth. Remember, you are the leader of your world, and leadership begins within. I hope my story resonates with others who struggle with new beginnings. Please share your experiences in the comments below. Remember you are not alone I was there once too! I encourage you to keep going—take a moment to breathe if you need to. Then get yourself ready to welcome all the new opportunities entering your life. If your present circumstances feel overwhelming, it means you are ready to level up. Embrace the change. Rise and achieve the greatness you truly deserve.

Until next time, Beautiful soul—stay safe and protected always choosing love never hate!💕
